erliA new exhibition by Eyrún Axels will be opened in gallery Klaustur today, Friday 5th August at 17:00. The artist dedicate the exhibitions to her parents who lived at Bessastaðir, next farm to Skriðuklaustur. The exhibition will be open until 31st August.


Seven Days' Darkness - theatre

Next Monday, 25th July, the stage-art-group Sviðsverkur will perform their theatrical installation based on Gunnar Gunnarsson's book Seven Days' Darkness, which was published in 1920. The audience will be offered to join the world of the work and take part in reliving the story. The story takes place in the end of WWI in a winter when the inhabitants of Reykjavik have to face both eruption and lethal influenza. 

 The stage-art-group Sviðsverkur was established by young and enthusiastic people who have graduated in stage arts;  Hallveig Kristín Eiríksdóttir, Þorvaldur S. Helgason and Eva Halldóra Guðmundsdóttir. Their goal is to present new theatre forms to the audience by giving the audience the oppertunity to participate in the theatre and take part in the artwork.

The shows will be in the evenings 25th - 27th July. Every hour a new performance will start, 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00. Tickets can be ordered by e-mailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or by phone 471-2990. The price is 1500 ISK.


Seven Days Darkness installation

saelir1In gallery Klaustur is now an installation from the performing group Sviðsverkur which is going to show their version of Gunnar Gunnarsson's book, Seven Days Darkness, in the end of July here at Skriðuklaustur. The installation's title is "In the morning of the seventh day". The play will be on stage in various rooms in the evenings 25th-28th July.


Trolls - nature & language

kerlingsandiNew exhibition will be opened at Skriduklaustur on Sunday 26th June at 2 pm with the title Trolls - nature and language. The exhibition is a part of a project that Gunnarsstofnun has been working on, researching tales of trolls in East Iceland and how they are related to place names and landscape. The 6th volume of Gunnarsstofnun's paperback series with folktales will be presented at the opening with 34 troll tales. The exhibition is interesting for both children and adults and is open every day until September.
